Relative costs of needed items:

   $  25 - 5 acupuncture training manuals
   $  50 - 1 week training cost per participant
   $ 100 - set of acupuncture charts, or 2 mid wife equipment bags
   $ 400 - typical acupuncture needle supply for a community clinic,
                3 to 6 months..
   $1000 - cost for volunteer to train in Guatemala

Volunteer

I am an NCCAOM Board certified acupuncturist or health care professional who speaks Spanish and am interested in volunteering in Guatemala.

Supplies

I can collect and ship supplies to GUAMAP. Send supply list(s):
  • acupuncture (needles at least within 1 year of expiration date, moxa holder, bio boxes, Piezo, etc.)
  • allopathic / pharmaceutical medicines
Midwives' basic kits usually include the following items:
  • Alcohol  (to be purchased in Guatemala)
  • Blades, sterile scalpel or new razor, for cutting umbilical cord
  • Clamps (two large), Kelly or Rochester
  • Gauze pads, 2.5" x 2.5"
  • Iron tablets (ferrous fumarate is more easily assimilated)
  • Nail brush
  • Scissors
  • Soap
  • Closed soap dish (for carrying)
  • Umbilical tape in sterile packs
  • Plain small cloth gym bag or overnight bag for carrying the above
